    Tim,
Do you know of a way for SCOM to monitor a foreground application. We have an application that is supported by a vendor at the moment and shuts itself down at random intervals. My group is taking over the support of this product and we would like to use SCOM to alert us if the APP shuts down. Unfortunately the concensus is that the app shutting down doesn’t generate any kind of log so I don’t know what I should be monitoring. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe it could monitor the task manager or something of that sort to see if the app stops running.

You could try to leverage WMI, especially class Win32_Process. You would need notification query written for “__InstanceDeletionEvent”. You should be able to find info about this in MSDN

Tim I have issues with my OpsMgr database but since I work with Microsoft I need you to tell me what this error means when the Watchanator2.exe is executed:

    C:\PROFILES\miantch1-adm\Desktop\Watchanator2>Watchanator2.exe
    1:34 PM

Unhandled Exception: System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
    at Watachanator.Program.Main(String[] args)

    C:\PROFILES\miantch1-adm\Desktop\Watchanator2>

I have another environment and i don’t experiencing this problem. Simply what the tool is calling in order to get this response?

    Thanks
    Martin
