Now when are they going to dump out a version of that for Linux-based SNMP? Dell’s run more than just Windows. 🙂

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

    Hi Tim,

I ran into an issue about your Maint Mode app, though first, I would like to thank you for even providing such a useful GUI.

At first I installed your program (v1.4) on X server to run maint script on Y server via Z RMS svr. It appears to work all fine. Then I installed the program on Y svr and now it appears that when for example, I set the maint mode to 6 minutes, it would not end in 6 minutes. It appears to go to the default 30 minutes.

Details of the issue: I have uninstalled v1.4, reinstalled v1.4, same issue. Uninstalled v 1.4, reboot, installed V1.7. Same issue. All the while I would delete the old tasks and start fresh (for tshooting purpose). I do notice that initially, if I go to edit | maint mode setting, I would see the end time as 5 minutes… but when I go back, it appears to have changed to 30 minutes. Also, svr Y requires Dot net 3.5 as this svr X, except Svr Y is prohibited from getting internet access… so I had to manually download and copy and install .NET 3.5. During .NET 3.5’s install, there appeared some error msgs, though when I acknowledge the error, it appeared to have continued and your program did not complain that there was NO .NET 3.5. (Dont know if that is significant.)

I would appreciate your advice. Thank you in advance.

    Regards,

    Ty

Request to remove restrictions on # of minutes (minimum AND maximum) or provide End day/time GUI boxes.

I believe’s SCOM’s mininum maint mode minutes may be 5, but has no real maximum. Low minimum minutes is useful for testing… and high maximums is useful in our real world environment. For example, if we wanted to do MS paching over the weekend on multiple servers, we may currently set the max to 1 wk (INITIALLY)… then if we’re done in 3 hours, we would end the maint mode. This prevents an unexpected issue (such as server going down that weekend) and forgetting to increase the max time of maint mode.

Another option would be to provide in your wonderful GUI program and End day/time option, as in the current SCOM’s GUI version.
